I'm delighted to welcome the founder of African Activities, musician and educator Kwame Bakoji-Hume to talk about 'African' Music. There has been lots written and discussed about the role of African music in British music education, and Kwame brings his lived experience and professional expertise as a Ghanian musician to the conversation.
'Musical differences between Senegal and Gambia are often nonexistent, whereas differences between the Ga and Gonga within Ghana can be vast. How can music educators shape content to more accurately represent various musics of West Africa?'
African Activities is a collection of West African artists who offer the opportunity to engage with Black and African culture by sharing superb creative artistic experiences that disrupt preconceptions, create community, drive excellence and break barriers.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Nate, this sounds amazing but I have a choir at that time. Is there any way it could be recorded and made available after the event? Happy to pay the fee.of course.
